'Could do better'

Being a journalist, writing news stories and articles
about community fetes is something I have got used to.
There is a format to it, a style to the paper and you
tend to stick to it, if you want to stay out of trouble.
Writing a blog however is something entirely different.
There is the pressure of trying to write casually,
intelligently and be funny and entertaining at the same
time. Some people can do this extremely well, it comes
naturally. I think I definitely land in the ‘could do better’
category. Every week I can sense the pressure building
if I haven’t got something particular to talk about. I
don’t want to bore followers by talking about the same
topic over and over, but then I guess a lot of people are
expecting me to talk about my job and what happens
here. I know that blogs are about being yourself, but
you still have to be careful what you say and so I can
find it tough at times to just totally relax and say what’s
on my mind. Perhaps you will notice a slight
improvement next week.
